The Continuum advantage.
Discus Elements•T mineral complex replenishes crucial minor and trace minerals lost to filtration and plants in Discus and other soft water habitats. It is also useful for other freshwater fish from harder water environments. It contains no heavy metals, phosphates, silicates, gluconates, or polygluconates.
Use in aquarium keeping.
For best results, use purified water prepared by reverse osmosis, deionization or distillation. Then use Continuum Flora•Viv Reconstitute RO to replace essential minerals removed during purification and create a mineral composition common to river habitats. Next buffer the water, as needed, with Flora•Viv KH+ to stabilize the pH by increasing the alkalinity to the desired value for the species of fish you are keeping. For Discus, this is recommended to be 1.7 to 3.0 dKH (German degrees of carbonate hardness or Karbonathaerte) or 30 to 55 ppm. For general freshwater species, you should increase the alkalinity to twice that value.
A word about resin filtration. Some products tell you to regenerate resins with chlorine bleach. If you are keeping discus or softwater fishes, don’t do it. It can easily kill your fish. Continuum recommends that you steer clear of products that recommend bleach and instead use our salt regenerable Power•Cleanse XL resin.
Directions and protocol.
Shake well prior to use. Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 30 US-gallons (114 L) of Discus, other soft water fish, or general freshwater aquarium water 2 times per week.
Expert use.
Dosing through use of a drip system is a superior method of addition. Do not mix with buffers or alkalinity supplements prior to addition. See our website for compatibility of supplements. It is not possible, with current test kits, to measure the exact dosage of Discus Elements•T trace minerals to add, so to dose, simply add the above amount to the doser. In other words, add 1 capful to the amount of solution that the doser will add in 2 to 4 days per 30 US-gallons (114 L) of aquarium water.
Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Contains trace minerals, if ingested drink water. If in eyes flush with water.
